The Hong Kong Geographic Information System Association (HKGISA) was formed in January 1995, with the objective to promote the use of geographic information system (GIS) in Hong Kong. The Association provides a multidisciplinary network and forum for individuals involved in GIS research, applications, education, and hardware and software development to interact with each other to exchange ideas and information on the latest development of this rapidly growing technology. Talks, seminars, visits, newsletters and exhibitions are planned as regular activities of the Association.
The executive committee of the Association comprises representatives from various educational institutions, government organisations and the private sectors. Representing the diverse interests and needs of the GIS community, they work together to promote the application and advancement of GIS in Hong Kong.
